Configure Your Computer
Shippensburg University > ResNet > Get Connected > Configure Your Computer > Linux > ResNet Standard Guide > Step 2

Step 2 - Ethernet Software

If your network card is already installed and configured properly, please continue on.

If you're not sure if your card is ready to go:

If your Ethernet card and computer are Plug & Play compatible, your computer should automatically detect the card when it is booted.  It may prompt you for a driver disk or the Windows installation CD.  If your card or computer does not support Plug & Play, you will have to install the needed driver yourself.

  • Once the Ethernet card has been properly installed, you will need to install the TCP/IP protocol and remove the NetBEUI protocol if present.

Next, you will need to configure your PC for DHCP.

The ResNet Help Desk is just a phone call away if you have any trouble!
