Configure Your Computer
Shippensburg University > ResNet > Get Connected > Configure Your Computer > Windows 2000 > ResNet Standard Guide > Step 3

Step 3 - Configure DHCP

Your Ethernet connection needs to be configured for DHCP to use ResNet.

If your network card is already configured for DHCP, please continue on.

If you're not sure if your card is ready to go:

1.  Go to the Control Panel and Select "Network Connections."

2.  Right-Click on "Local Area Connection" and select "Properties."

3.  Scroll in the list to "TCP/IP" and click Properties.

4.  In the General tab, select "Obtain an IP address automatically."

5.  Also select "Obtain DNS server address automatically."

6.  Click OK and then OK again.

Next, you will need to physically connect to your Ethernet  jack.

The ResNet Help Desk is just a phone call away if you have any trouble!
