RESNET STATUS

ResNet is an Ethernet network that allows access to the University mainframe computer, library resources, e-mail, and the Internet (including the World Wide Web).

ResNet is available to all residence hall rooms!
Access ResNet wired or wirelessly!
There is no additional fee for using ResNet!

The ResNet high-speed network connections offer students many benefits over traditional dial-up modem connections to the University computing environment. The Ethernet connections in each room are up to 148 times faster than a 56.6 Kbps modem, do not use a phone line, and provide 24-hour access to the University network and the Internet. ResNet provides access to E-mail, web surfing, file transfers, and other services of the Internet.

Wired ResNet service is only available to students residing in on-campus housing.

Residence Hall Access for StuFiles

You must use Internet Explorer. Other browsers are not supported and may not provide complete functionality.

In the location bar, type ftp://stufiles.ship.edu

When prompted for User Name, enter your complete Ship email address

When prompted for Password, enter your Ship email password

If you are using Internet Explorer 7, click on Page, then Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer

You will be able to drag and drop your files to your current desktop and back to the ftp://stufiles.ship.edu server. You cannot edit files directly through the web browser. They must be copied to the local machine first to edit them and then you can drag them to back to the browser window to resave them to the ftp://stufiles.ship.edu server.

Register for Service

Registering for ResNet service is fast, easy, and 100% online! Just plug your PC in and browse to any website. You'll be taken to My.ResNet, the official ResNet web portal. You can also use My.ResNet to open support requests, download software, and much more!

Cleanup with Laundry Alert!

Don't feel like guessing when your laundry will be done? With Laundry Alert, you can now check the status of the washers and dryers in your residence hall!

2007 Microsoft^® Office Software

Shippensburg University uses the 2007 version of Microsoft Office. You will find the Enterprise version installed in each campus computer lab. All qualifying faculty and staff computers have also been upgraded.

Unfortunately, Shippensburg University cannot provide this version of Microsoft Office 2007 free of charge for students' personal computers. However, discounted computer software can be found online at www.theultimatesteal.com.

If you are using an older verion of Microsoft Office, files created in the labs may not be compatible with the older software. Fortunately, Microsoft has taken this into consideration and has released a compatibility package. If you are having trouble with your older version of Microsoft Office working properly with Office '07 files, please download the Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Package.

Hit the GameLAN

GameLAN is a local area network that runs "on top of ResNet." It allows you to play all of your network games within your Residence Hall and across Residence Halls! GameLAN is compatible with PCs and game consoles such as Playstation 2,/3, XBox 360, and Nintendo Wii.

We offer music downloads to all Ship students, giving you access to download over 3 million songs, movies, and TV shows!
